Comparing Session to THPS is misguided (as a lot of SXL fanboys do in bad faith), so let's not go there. Even aspects that may seem designed for controllers are easy enough to adapat cuz the controls at their core weren't designed with tech that isn't available on kb/m. Being that close-minded, especially when everyone's here trying to help, just isn't nice.Īnd for the record, the THPS games have kb/m support mostly because they have always used direct button input, which are easy to translate to kb/m. a thing, but no one did it outside of Japan.

This isn't 1999 where controllers being used on PC was. If not, then that's fine 🤷🏻‍♂️ But is it really necessary to call it a "PC" game and so strongly enforce that this should have kb/m support, despite you not even knowing why it only has controller support? Let's be fair here. If you've done some research into Session and you're quite interested in it, get a cheap Logitech controller (they're a reliable and durable entry point) and give it a go. I was sore after an hour or two, but I had so much fun that I'd get right back in after resting for half an hour and would play another three or four hours straight.Ĭontrollers are already a largely common peripheral for PC, so rejecting them entirely like that is just futile. A few years ago I got so hungry for some games that have no controller support whatsoever that I just went ahead and played them with kb/m. That's not impossible on paper, but who knows if they want to put effort into doing that when legacy isn't even finished? We're in pre-alpha, so I think it's viable to have that conversation more seriously once we're in beta or something.Īs someone who had a lot of bias towards kb/m (even when I had no option to play with a controller for so many years), you're better off being a little more open about a different input method if you *really* want to play games where controller support is either the only or better option (there are many games out there where controllers are the better option, and the majority of them are not console ports). The only way I see that moving forward would be for them to adapt the legacy control scheme (reminiscent of Skate's controls) so that the mouse alone emulates the right stick. Balancing weight just wouldn't work with kb/m as it isn't quite the same as THPS's weight balancing. There have been discussions around this before, but the people saying there are solutions to translate analog input to a keyboard are forgetting that Session is more than basic inputs. Kb/m might not be viable for Session due to how it makes use of a controller's sticks to emulate feet movement and wheigt balancing, which are impossible to achieve with kb/m.

Session is not the first nor will it be the last game not to support kb/m, wheter you. Controller support IS a thing in general whether you like it or not. Session IS a PC game whether you like it or not. I understand not finding controllers comfortable, but being snarky about this game not supporting kb/m isn't even fair.
